THE football clubrooms were packed for the Team of the Century announcement on Saturday night.

Before naming the district's greatest players, club president, Michael Northcott related the club's history going back to 1912 when the first team was formed.

The team travelled to games by train, and as the roads improved made the move to trucks.

The first official team was announced in 1933, with the league comprising Tintinara, Coonalpyn, Keith and Yumali.

Over the years the team has undergone many league and colour changes, and currently competes in the Mallee league as the Border Downs Tintinara Crows.

Former resident and player Mark Burns announced the players and positions, providing a brief resume of each person included in the line-up.

He praised the great job of the selectors in choosing the team drawn from the players of today, and going back to 1945.

Arthur Hannaford was named Team of the Century captain.

Each team member received a commemorative trophy and team sheet.

The team: Jonathon Northcott (back pocket), John Webb (full back), Kevin Higginson (back pocket), Christopher Aldersey (interchange), Wayne Webb (back flank), Greg Kennett (centre half back), Bruce Jensch (back flank), Ron Tiller (interchange), Clint Richardson (wing), David Burns (centre), Richard Harkness (wing), Charlie Sullivan (forward flank), Arthur Hannaford (centre hall forward and captain), Bob Higgins (forward flank), Peter Zacker (Interchange), Trevor Becker (forward pocket/rover), Ross Prosser (full forward), Andy Eitzen (forward pocket), John Flmer (interchange), Josh Richardson (first rover), Malcolm Anderson (ruck rover), George Cresp (first ruck), David Head (coach), George Burns (coach).
