Service Clubs and Community Organisations

Tintinara Action Club

The Tintinara Action Club was formed from the remnants of the Tintinara branch of the Apex Club. Because of declining membership and increasing difficulty of supporting Apex administration, it was decided to fold the club and start a locally based Service Club for the younger members of the community.

From there the club has gone from strength to strength, and now boasts a very strong membership. The club has many fundraising events, the main one being the 'Sand & Swamp' motorbike ride. This ride is attended by many bike enthusiasts (126 in 1997) from all over SA and interstate. It is held on the second weekend in August every year.

The club also holds many working bees in aid of the local community, as well as giving financial support for local clubs and organisations.

It also owns a 'Barbeque Trailer', which contains a BBQ plate, deep fryer, and vegetable cookers, so that whole meals may be prepared. This trailer is available for hire by the public at very reasonable rates (with or without manpower).

Tintinara Lions Club

The Tintinara Lions Club is a service club with a very strong membership and is very active in the community. It holds many fundraisers and working bees every year.

One of the main fundraisers is the annual 'Woolshow' in March. Local woolgrowers are encouraged to donate one or more fleeces. These are then scientifically tested, judged and displayed. The best fleeces in each category are awarded prizes. All the wool is later sold, with proceeds going to the club.

The club owns a caravan for catering at shows and other events in the local area. The van is used to sell donuts, chips, cool drinks, etc.

Sporting Clubs and Activities

Lawn Bowls

Lawn Bowlers will find two excellent Greens adjacent to the school and visiting enthusiasts are always welcome

Tennis

For more active persons, whose game is tennis, there are eight hard-courts, sheltered by towering pine trees. The annual Easter tennis tournament has been a feature of the sporting calender for may years

Golf

Intending golfers need only drive 10 km south-east along the highway to the railway crossing at Terrapee, where signs will lead to a picturesque and challenging golf course.
This 18-hole course was carved from virgin scrub thirty years ago, and steady improvements since have created the finest scrapes course in the South-East.

A first class club house caters to all needs of golfers. It is sited on the high ground overlooking the first tee and several tree-lined fairways, and provides a fine spot for viewing the many kangaroos which make this golf course their home.

A modest green fee is required and play is possible all year round, although summer conditions limit the number of holes available for play
